Damage caused December 2024 - There has been damaged caused in the recent bad storms and 2 trees were brought down. The worst damage was caused to the Park fence entrance area in Brassmill Lane by the access to the Caravan/Marina. The tree has destroyed part of the perimeter fence by the gate. Another tree was also brought down by the children’s paly area. It has all been reported to the Parks department
Pond - October 2024 - The Pond has now been made but there is still a lot of work that needs doing before it is complete. Many plants have been put in place but they will need to to grow before they look their best. A wooden fence will be installed around it in due course
Coffee/Cake sale fundraising event - This was held over the bank holiday weekend on Sunday 26th May at our Chairmans house and was a very successful event raising just over £247
AGM 2024 - The AGM of the “Friends of Newbridge Park” 2024 was held during our committee meeting at the Locksbrook Inn at 10:30am on Friday 26th April. THe same committee members were re-elected into posts: Chairman - Andrew Tapper, Treasurer - Tony Stott, Secretary - Lorinda Skipper and membership secretary Mary Parke
3rd February 2024 - Our Chairman Andrew Tapper attended a YourPark event in Bristol where he was awarded a volunteer of the Year award for B&NES 2023. The event was attended by over 100 people and the certificate was awarded by B&NES Councillor Bharat Pankhania (obo Cllr Tim Ball)
September 2023 - Friends of Newbridge Park have submitted a Nomination to the Planning Department of the Council to apply for the Park to be Designated a Local Green Space and thereby safeguarding the Park from future commercial development.
